1. What does the ATM / Debit Card authentication system consist of?

ATM / Debit Card Number Authentication

This authentication is an additional level of authentication based on the ICICI Bank ATM / Debit Card issued for the ICICI Bank Account from which you are transferring funds.

For executing an online funds transfer, you will be required to provide three digits selected at random from your ICICI Bank ATM / Debit Card Number for authentication.This will be required after entering the transaction password. The transaction will be carried out successfully only if all the 3 digits are correctly entered.

For example,

a.If your ATM / Debit Card Number is: 1234 5678 9098 7654

ATM / Debit Card Number asked 7 11 15
Entered Digits should be 7 9 5

b. ATM /Debit Card Number is: 9876 5432 1012 3456

ATM / Debit Card Number asked 4 10 14
Entered Number should be 6 0 4

The combination of 3 ATM / Debit Card Numbers will be randomly asked by the system.

ATM / Debit Card Grid values printed on the back of the debit card.

In case if you have been issued a Debit Card having with a grid (16 cells with alphabets from A to P and numbers printed in them ) table on the reverse of the card, you will be required to enter 3 values from them. These values have been randomly selected from 8 x 2 grid table.

All the 16 cells of the grid table are numbered from A to P and contain numeric values.

For example: You may be asked to enter the numeric grid values in Cell C, G and K which might be 21, 45 and 96. Your transaction will only be processed if you correctly enter these values from your grid table .

This change in the authentication procedure of entering values from the grid for online Funds Transfer transactions will happen after 45 days from the issue of the new Debit Card to you.

In case of this new mode of authentication for online Funds Transfer transactions will be followed even for joint accounts when either holder has been issued a Debit Card with the grid, this grid will be shown to you where either of the holders has been issued a Debit Card with grid table on the reverse of the card. If you do not have a Debit Card with a Grid, you may want to apply for a new Debit Card. You will be able to use your new Debit Card with grid for Internet Banking Fund Transfer authentication 45 days after it is issued to you.

Caution:

Any attempts at using your new Debit Card containing the grid for Internet Banking Funds Transfer authentication until before 45 days after of issuance, will lead your existing Transaction Password to to get locked.

2. Which financial transactions will require ATM / Debit Card authentication?

Currently, the following transactions will require this authentication:
a) Funds Transfer to any ICICI Bank Account
b) RBI EFT
c) Card to Card transfer
d) All Shopping Mall transactions

This authentication will be asked when : you are making a payment, scheduling a payment or altering an existing scheduled payment.

3. Will ATM / Debit Card authentication be applicable for transferring funds to other ICICI Bank Account linked to the same User Id?

No, transferring funds to other ICICI Bank Account linked to the same User Id will continue to follow the existing process, i.e irrespective of the amount involved only transaction password will be required.

4. Will ATM / Debit Card authentication be applicable for Bill Pay?

No, currently it will continue to follow the existing process, i.e only the transaction password will be required.

5. I do not have an ICICI Bank ATM / Debit card. Can I execute online funds transfer?

In order to make transfers through ICICI Bank.com you will need a valid ICICI Bank ATM / Debit Card. You can apply for an
ICICI Bank ATM / Debit Card through Request Manager or you can contact our 24 Hour Phone Banking.

6. I have two accounts linked to my user id. Which ICICI Bank ATM / Debit card details will be asked from me at the time of transfer?

You will need enter the details of the ICICI Bank ATM / Debit Card linked for the ICICI Bank Account from which you are transferring funds. This ICICI Bank Account is also displayed on the screen.

7. I am entering the correct details from my ICICI Bank ATM / Debit card. However, it is still not being accepted. What can I do?

Please ensure that you are putting in the correct digits / grid values of the ATM / Debit Card for the debit Bank Account (displayed on the screen). Also, for the authentication to be successful the ICICI Bank ATM / Debit should be valid (i.e expiry period is not yet reached) and it should not be blocked or hotlisted. If you are still facing any problems, please write to us through Accounts Manager or contact our 24 Hour Phone Banking

8. Notes on Transaction Password

Your Transaction Password will get locked if
       - incorrect Transaction Password is entered 5 times OR
       - incorrect ATM / Debit card number is entered 5 times independently of one another

You can request reissue of Transaction Password by
       - Applying Online for a new Transaction Password
       - Calling our 24 hour Customer Care Centre and asking for new Transaction Password
       - Visiting any ICICI Bank branch and asking for a new Transaction Password

In case your account is less than six months old, Resident Indian customers will need to apply at the branch for the Transaction Password.    

You will receive the Transaction password within 7 working days at your communication address registered with us.      

Please note:
Please do not attempt to use the old transaction password after you have submitted your  request for new password,
as this will cause the new Transaction Password to get locked.
